Use a custom sound for your phone alarm

iPhone Clock

Open Clock and edit the alarm you want to change. Open its Sound setting, select an available sound and save the alarm. Check that you edited the intended alarm, especially if you have several times or repeating schedules.

If a custom tone is absent, verify that it was installed rather than merely saved in an editor. Use the options available in that specific sound picker. Sleep or wake-up scheduling should not be assumed to expose the identical choices as an ordinary Clock alarm.

Google Clock on Android

Edit the alarm and tap its sound. Google documents Add new for an audio file downloaded to the device. Select your file and confirm the alarm remains enabled. Phone-maker Clock apps may differ, so use their own sound controls when Google Clock is not the app you use.

Music-service alarms

Google Clock offers supported music-service integrations subject to account and regional availability. That is different from converting a streaming song into a ringtone file. If the service choice is missing, check the Clock and music-app requirements instead of looking for an MP3 in the service’s offline cache.

Test before relying on it

Set a near-term test alarm while you are awake. Check the selected sound, volume, repeat days and enabled state. Keep an existing reliable alarm until you have heard the new setup work. A successful in-app preview alone does not verify an alarm will use that sound.
