Delete a ringtone exported from GarageBand
For a ringtone exported from GarageBand, open its ringtone sharing controls, choose Your Ringtones, then swipe left on the unwanted name and delete it. Keep the source project if you may want to export it again.
Open the exported ringtone list
- In GarageBand’s My Songs browser, touch and hold a song.
- Choose Share, then Ringtone to open the export dialog.
- Choose Your Ringtones to see the exported tones.
- Swipe left on the name you want to remove, then choose Delete.
Check the exact name before deleting, especially if you exported several versions of the same clip. Apple documents this list for previously exported GarageBand ringtones; it should not be treated as a universal manager for every sound installed by every method.
Keep the original if you might want it again
The exported ringtone and the editable GarageBand project serve different purposes. Keep your project and a backup of the original audio when you may want to change the excerpt later. Removing the exported tone is different from deleting the recording you used to make it.
Choose a replacement sound
After removing a tone, check Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone and select an available replacement. Check any contact that had its own assigned ringtone, and any text-tone or alarm assignment that used the old sound. Test the particular call or alert you changed.
If the tone is not in this list
It may have been installed by another method. Return to the app or system flow that created it and use its supported management options. Do not clear unrelated app data to remove one sound. Android’s sound libraries are different, so these GarageBand steps do not apply to a Pixel or Samsung phone.
